Il est le père de l’archéologie communautaire au Canada, une forme d’archéologie qui implique directement et à tous les stades d’un projet les membres des communautés affiliées, leur permettant d’acquérir d’importantes habilités et connaissance et les responsabilisant en matière de protection et de promotion de leur héritage culturel.

Daniel Weetaluktuk, from Inukjuak, became in the 70's the first inuit archeologist from Canada, and probably from the entire world. He's the father of community archeology in Canada, a form of archeology that involves directly and at all project stages members of the affiliated community.
